straight out of st petersburg comes a brand new drum & bass label from russia with a lot of love. an offshoot of already established audio plants recordings, burelom (pronounced boorelom) is the russian word describing rugged outdoor terrain, windswept landscapes and fallen trees. this image sets a precedent for the music to follow, expect some of the most breathtaking d&b from deep, dark sonics through to ethereal vocal-led dance floor infusions, starting with release number 1 due january 2014.

trackwork ep.no.2 is headed up by a super swingy acid tinged wigout multiculture - simple but deadly on the floor. next we have the stone-age-cave-rave of a billion years ago - a clash of de-tuned vox and live dub delay edits and to round side a off - feel it warps and mangles a classic paradise garage disco sample into some dark heads-down tracky gear.

the fourth instalment of local talks series crosses all genres of house and have been delivered by producers from sweden, argentina, germany and finland. its a wide and complete mix of deep and thumping 4/4s. the opening track from combo loops a killer stevie sample over some mid-tempo electronic house beats…its pure shuga! tim vita, oliver gehrmann and xavier hirsch does a similar thing using a big voiced motown legend together with dark but jazzy house rhythms. < finnish house legend sasse (mood music) delivers a classic deep but electronic jam that definitely sets a deep mode. we finish off with a classic us garage track from argentinian producer tom noir, a real club filler with some serious breakdowns.

teng returns with the *grand statement* ep by veteran techno producer, paul mac, backed with a rework from paul under his jorge zamacona, guise. teng records takes the step from fledgling imprint to fully-fledged label here, after marking a milestone with a full length for its tenth release. since launching the label has found affirmation in its intentions by picking up support from some key underground artists in the industry, such as christopher rau, tazz, azuni and deep space orchestra.

oli furness crafts tracks designed for the floor, utilising a substantial hardware collection with old & new production techniques to create some serious raw grooves to make you party. both envy and jus fine are some of his hottest tunes to date and are real club killers. this release also offers two remixes from the ever hot urulu (needwant, dirt crew. lets play house), who turns envy into a dave clark red like tool (urulu mix 1) and into a dark techno monster (urulu mix 2). dont miss this piece of wax!

there is some disco cockiness right here. the right amount of funky with a pinch of house and many other things that well discover as we peel back the layers with ease.

having released on some of the most influential labels, it is with great honor that audio culture welcomes the montreal based artist, nautiluss, to the family. the solstice ep consists of three tracks and finds nautiluss exploring warmer, more euphoric territories, and he does it right whilst still retaining the boldness and toughness of his past work. the ep flows effortlessly from the big string euphoria on solstice to the darker tones on corvus passing the slightly off kilter shuffle on neptune. without a doubt these will heat up any dancefloor in the cold winter months ahead.

this is the first ep of aleqs notal, a boy who spent his early years in the heat and sand of saudi arabia, but then decided to take some dust with him and throw it in our ears. in love with the soulfulness of detroits style and the roughness of chicago suburbs, he comes solid with this four tracks release full of shadows and tricky rhythmic patterns.

bottin is back with his highly collectible artifact edits. this 12 is dedicated to lucio battisti (well known among disco heads for il veliero) - here bottin has reworked some lesser-known songs that take you on a horseback ride revealing the balearic side of the legendary italian songwriter. only 200 copies!

collaborations are often the fortune of timing. with andy having moved on since closing the dissident label to launching his cave paintings project to tim s departure from battant and striking out as andrew weatheralls engineer and soon to be co-member of the asphodells, an alliance was born between the two to undertake a series of live jam sessions at eachs respective studios. a love of new wave, new beat, uk bleep and detroit techno all feature in b-ultras and the aptly titled, neu beat. both cuts are heavily soaked in the pitch black, smoke machine funk and strob-laden fug of andys (and co-hort joe hart) infamous world unknown dancefloor. running at around 10 minutes the tracks are essentially an examination of acid houses ideals. clattering hats, throbbing basslines, stabbing keys and doses of 303. keeping it pretty simple but all about a pure groove on and on. backing these up is a remix of b-ultras from jamie paton that accentuates the groove and drags the acid deeper down to some b-boy dub throwdown - with more to follow from all protagonists in 2014.

sect returns to the heart of the history once more. chicagos legacy is finally represented on the label by one of the finest producers of this city and sound, dj skull. words cant do justice to the legacy of this legend of house and techno music. for almost three decades skull has produced of some of the finest dancefloor tracks ever made, be it through saber (trax), djax, hybrid, majesty recordings, tresor, or many others. here the dark knight offers four very special cuts that reaffirm his legendary status. the title track combines the most up-to-date techno production techniques with the inimitable chicago jacking sound. *promise of peace* retrieves traditional house values on the mellower end of the musical scale, while *reboot* gets back to the straight-up techno, with some nicely understated acid elements, and finally *big girls* is informed by both reggae dub and forward thinking techno.

maxi mill drops his second release on tom trago s voyage direct series.maxi mill is a young producer from amsterdam that worked behind the scenes with tom trago for some years, garnering co-production credits on some of trago s tracks such as steppin out and 200 b.c after a hot debut on vd with to the next / sun rays , maxi mill pops up with another relevant release on voyage direct!

full circle is a project initiated by alexis le tan in collaboration with joakim (who helped with the recording and editing) and ill studio (who are in charge of the graphic universe of full circle).

welcoming warrior one to losing suki, the man like carl faure has been knocking out some killers for labels like black butter, catskills and king pigeon over the last few years, and for suki he shines a light upon the garage house hybrid sounds…. title track 5ths kicks things off with the kind of punchy garage house swing that never fails to move you, airhorns and synth sweeps pepper the cut whilst a thundering double 99-esque bassline throbs hard and heavy. flipside, the reverberating keys and mc licks of nyc continue warrior ones indulgence of the classic us house sounds but with a slick production for the modern dancefloor. closing track only you presents orgasmic pads and tough garage beats, its meaty bass touching the spot, a sweet slice of when rave met garage (somewhere in a field off the m25, most probably).

after launching with a fantastic first release from label boss tim green back in september, the boutique imprint disc over music is back with an equally impressive second release. this time from klasse recordings chief luca lozano and his klasse crew mate mr ho. together the pair offer up some hugely cultured house music complete with remixes from tim green and new label artist nicson. the ep will be released both digitally and on vinyl following the success of the first, which picked up support from the likes of solomun, marco carola and m.a.n.d.y. amongst many others.

second release of the wild division records signed by duster traum (white rose) on his second release and remixed by miki craven and spear. a1 is the original track straight to hell signed by duster traum with a nice simple and minimal bass line and some hypnotic detroit sounds the reminds some of the markus suckut productions. in a2 we find miki craven with a dark remix. powerful production with huge space reverbs effects, nice stereo image. banging!

superb collection of early 90s underground deep house classics by the legendary dub maestro mk. first up is the hard-to-find remix of terence trent d arbys >surrender< which takes d arbys soulful vocal and puts some classic mk fire underneath it to create a awesome deep house banger which received heavy rotation both in the clubs and on the airwaves. next we get one of mks best dubs - his brilliant take on the b52s >tell it like it t-i-is<, a chugging house belter which adds a haunting bass and melody to the bands expertly chopped up vocal chants. the flip side keeps up the pressure with the awesome dub mix of betty boos >thing goin on<, another of his finest dub mixes, and lastly the in-demand classic >bicycle dub< of the pet shop boys >can you forgive her<, only ever available as a limited promo but huge on the underground scene.

hip hop did not develop in a vacuum - its roots can be traced back to the earliest afro-american music, and the folks who were influenced by these sounds along the way. this lp compiles some of the great recordings that showcase the spoken word and street culture put forth from the 1920s through the 1960s that would go on to influence the entire rap music genre. the themes will be familiar - religion, politics, black experience, badass gangsta rap, speed, sex, drugs and rock n roll. lets listen to the lessons that the hipsters of the past taught the rappers of today.

dadame aka dario damerini arrives in an unique state of maturity behind the decks, he is able to express it from the studio on this ep. it is no secret that dario is the ambassador of the grooviest old school house sound in barcelona, his work reveals the way he is and his own experience with the machines. after releasing some dope tracks on other labels, this is his first vinyl in solo.

among many other things saralunden proves to be a dismal disco star! on this ep she sounds like a stripped down and darker counterpart of sally shapiro, presenting moody and sexy music which is in some ways similar to the italo influenced stuff chromatics is doing and with the same twisted erotic vibe of pulp. this is dirty disco and we like to dance to it.

we stick with our concept for the second release. putting some of our own and some of our good friends music on a v/a ep. this time we have bartellow, a dedicated musician with several projects and bands. spirits combines his disco-affinity with raw deep house sounds and an ecstatic vocal sample. lewy l is the pseudonym for collaborations within our very family. getting rid of limitations this is the name we put our jam sessions results abigail brought a collabo track with nubody from melbourne from the time he spent living in australia last but not least its einerweniger, long time friend from munich with his typically groovy approach on house music. there will be more of him in future productions.

eric is definately swedens most interesting and skillful producer when it comes to underground deep house and soulful techno. eric ericksson released his first single in 96 with several releases since then on respected labels, both indie and major. at age 18, he released a single on derrick mays label fragile, alongside artists such as carl craig and laurent garnier. later the same year he, as part of the duo minimalisterna, released a full-length album on virgin records. in 2011 the ep someone is watching was released on carl craigs planet e communications. as co-founder of kass recordings he released the work of some of the top artists on the swedish scene, such as zoo brazil and style of eye. in 2009 he formed north beach together with daniel howe and since then they had three releases on kant recordings and played in well-respected venues in europe. his latest 12 inch vinyl love cannot was released this summer on freerange recordings.

animal 004 introduces the alchemyst project by the two argentinian techno artist julixo and frederik who show us two creations of metallic dub techno and raw beat structures. on the b side code is law mastermind moerbeck puts some spooky atmosphere to the title track and monomood turns lucy into a chord driven funk monster.
